Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mainly post about my sewing projects, as I’m building a colourful and comfortable everyday wardrobe suitable for a working mum of primary school children. I really love African wax fabric, so that features heavily. I also occassionally post about family life in Edinburgh and travel. Hope you have a nice stay!

Some straggler makes from 2022

Some straggler makes from 2022

I’m doing the 2022 makes list at the moment, and found these three that I never blogged, so here they are now!

Franca wears the LB pullover, a long sleeve top, in a navy herringbone fabric, and electric blue linen trousers

First up, this LB Pullover, I made around August, I think? The fabric is a very soft feeling cotton herringbone from Fabrworks, left over from the Pietra trousers. I added two patch pockets to the front, and finished the neckline with bias binding. Size 14, I think.

Franca wears a kelly grteen loose fitting tshirt and jeans

This is a French Nevy Patterns Stellan tee, made in September. The fabric is a rib from Fabwork, I love the colour, but turns out making tshirts in rib is hard. I’m really not happy with this sewing wise, all the hems are completely stretched out. I was hoping they would settle, but they haven’t. I’ve still worn this quite a lot under things though, I like the feel of it, so it’s not a complete waste.

Ellis went through a phase of being obsessed with giraffes, so I made him these pyjamas - a Bobbinhood top and Mini Hudsons. I never made him take proper pictures, and they are now far too worn to do it now, so this is the only photographic evidence!

Bit of knitting with this Everyday Brew hat (from the Clare Devine tea collection) for Ellis. I totally stuffed up the yellow pom pom so used this black one that was lying about (was meant to be a spider), but now he’s decided he doesn’t like it with the black pom pom. It was a fun knit though!

Not sure if this fully qualifies as a make, but I eventually decided that I am not be going to be losing substantial amounts of weight ever, so I ended up taking the far-too-tight sleeves off this Athina. I ended up having to also take off quite a bit oif the shoulder so its not far off just being two rectangles. But I love it anyway. Dupion silk is so lovely!

A cushion in a blue, yellow and red african wax fabric

Finally, a cushion cover made of African Wax we bought in Paris. Ellis chose it, and wanted to make the cushion himself. A sort of mixed success, he kept pulling the fabric to the side when feeding it though. The cushion is nice though.
