Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I mainly post about my sewing projects, as Iā€™m building a colourful and comfortable everyday wardrobe suitable for a working mum of primary school children. I really love African wax fabric, so that features heavily. I also occassionally post about family life in Edinburgh and travel. Hope you have a nice stay!

Today I've got another wiksten shift to share. This one is the medium length with sleeves this time. The fabric is enzyme dyed linen from first for fabric, it's a fairly substantial weight and it feels lovely. The colour is not what I would usually go for, it was a bit of an impulse buy with the red for the Rushcutter but I really like it! Size is a 6 too and a 10 bottom as before.

I had a vague plan to do this all with french seams but the seam allowance is 3/8th and I chickened our trying at the last minute. Just as well, I didn't manage the gathered seam at the back to be very even, and french seaming it would only have made that worse.

I didn't make a proper belt for this, as I prefer it without, but I did use the fabric scraps to make what was supposed to be a headband, with Ankara fabric from my Haori on the other side. It's too stiff to actually use as a headband but it works as a belt.
