I've been feeling like I want to wear more muted navy or black things recently so when I was looking through the min era pronto on demand options, I did a filter for those colours and this 'soaring swans' print jumped out at me, it's black and white but also interesting graphically from far away and really fun close up. I went for the linen viscose base, which I hasn't used for a while

For the pattern I went for a Paper Theory Zadie which was extremely popular for a while, I'm trying to work out when that was, definitely pre covid (update: I looked it up and it was early 2019 it came out) Anyway, I remember why everyone went so crazy for it cos it really is *that* good. Looks amazing on all body shapes, super comfy and doesn't require any complicated fitting.

I always have my sewing patterns printed on A0 these days, but my pattern pieces here were back from when I used to piece. The sizes I'd cut out were a bit confusing too, I had the back bodice as a 14, but the front and legs as a 16, not sure what was going on. I'd also had some traced back bottom pieces where I'd added a full seat adjustment, and lengthened and narrowed the legs. I meant to use those, but in the end I didn't have enough fabric for the lengthened legs as I hadn't considered that the fabric is directional, so I ended up shortening them again to the original length. It all worked out fine in the end with the sizing, somehow all the pieces joined together fine!

I didn't really follow the instructions for this, although I probably should have, as I sewed the front legs together all the way to the top rather than leaving the space for the overlapping wrap. Thankfully the unpicking went ok, and any fraying was hidden under the bias binding finish. Although worth pointing out this fabric does fray a fair bit, and I ended up zig zagging the sleeves and legs before hemming them to make it easier.
